Alain Fischer, who will provide a comprehensive overview of the last 25 years of gene therapy. Alain discovered the genetic basis of many PIDs, described the clinical features and immunological mechanisms of many others, and made spectacular therapeutic breakthroughs with bone marrow transplantation and gene therapy. His gene therapy trial of severe combined immunodeficiency caused by IL2RG mutations has established proof of principle that gene therapy can work on human patients. He is the laureate of numerous international awards, including the Japan Prize and the Koch Prize.
